People living in regional Victoria are almost twice as likely to experience family violence as those living in metropolitan area.
Family violence remains a significant issue in the Grampians region, with the LGAs of Ararat, Northern Grampians, and Horsham reporting incident rates more than double the state average.

Women living outside major cities are one and a half times more likely to experience family violence compared to those in metropolitan areas.
Research also reveals that individuals in remote areas are 24 times more likely to be hospitalised due to family violence than their urban counterparts. Nationally, one in four women has experienced intimate partner violence, and one in five has been subjected to sexual assault, highlighting the widespread and deeply concerning nature of gender-based violence across our region.
